Though the Pinnacle Deluxe V1 defined the word “Deluxe,” the Pinnacle Deluxe V2 earns the word, by cramming a ton more options into the same size enclosure, dramatically opening up the range without losing a single thing you loved about the original.
For starters, the two tone controls have been replaced with a robust three-band active EQ. What is an “active” EQ? Well, at noon, each band is “flat.” Turning each knob to the left cuts the frequency to a varying degree, and turning the knob to the right boosts it. This makes for an incredibly powerful dirt character with tons of possibilities.
Speaking of powerful dirt, the range of the Pinnacle Deluxe V2 is immense. The Boost function now gets its own knob and is independently switchable, letting the Pinnacle now run the gamut from jangly boost to amp-overloading avalanches of gain. The Gain control has an incredibly wide reach and is augmented by the Vintage/Modern switch, which dramatically changes the drive character from loose and warm to tight and punchy.
The secret weapon of the new Pinnacle is the Sag switch, which stays tucked out of sight on the side of the pedal. With the switch engaged, the crunchy character that emulates sagging tubes is removed from the circuit, leaving tight refined gain that shines through on solos and slashes through the mix without sounding muddy or cheap.
Even the circuit board has been refined. The pathways have been optimized to reduce the noise floor, and the board has been outfitted with two soft-touch relay-based true bypass switches so the pedal doesn’t sound like a firing squad when you turn it on with the Gain up. Up the irons.
