How do you refine something that set the benchmark for a certain genre of music? Well, he did. It’s the Dracarys, and it will rip your amp to shreds.
The Dracarys is a much more modern take on the molten high-gain distortion, outfitted with Wampler’s now-signature three-band graphic EQ. This EQ circuit is a killer, with deep boosts and cuts available to each band for a super-powerful tone-shaping experience.
In order to tailor the Dracary’s to the needs of today’s hasher, Wampler had to refine the gain in such a way that not only enhances the sound of it, but the depth as well. Players searching for modern metal tones deserve better. They deserve clarity that won’t muddy a signal, and they deserve a greater midrange control that won’t bathe their signal in mids or starve it of them either. Boom, Dracarys.
There’s a toggle switch on the Dracarys that drastically alters the sound of the distortion. Open, as you might expect, gives you rich, booming open crunch that absolutely slays for rhythm players. Tight brings in the compression that a redlined tube amp might offer without having to turn up to 11, and is great for lead players.
