The specimen under examination here is the Alternate Reality Tenor Tele. A contemporary take on the 4-string tenor guitar, the Fender Tenor Tele delivers a massive sound that belies its diminutive stature. Factory tuned to the same pitches as the top four strings of a standard 6-string, the Alternate Reality Tenor Tele is ideal for experimenting with your own alternate tunings. Immense usefulness in the studio
Custom-designed 4-string alnico pickups are what give this Telecaster variation its uniquely twangy, powerful sound. With the iconic single-cutaway body and pickguard, the customary 3-way Top Hat pickup switch, and master volume and tone controls on a traditional Tele control plate, the Alternate Reality Tenor Tele is unmistakably a Telecaster. And with its U-profile maple neck, it's comfortable for any playing style. The fingerboard sports a modern 9.5" radius and 21 vintage-tall frets. But the 22.75" scale length is where this instrument departs for new sonic territory. Any guitarist (or engineer) who has used Nashville tuning for tracking over standard-tuned guitars for rich, interesting sonic textures will appreciate the Alternate Reality Tenor Tele's immense usefulness in the studio.
