"The Workhorse" features choice tonewoods for incredible tone
Known as "The Workhorse," the Gibson J-45 body style is among Gibson's most beloved. This particular workhorse's stunning big leaf maple back and sides yield projective mids and excellent sustain, while its Sitka spruce top adds the perfect amount of presence. Other touches include traditional scalloped X-bracing, a compound dovetail neck joint, and a single-ring rosette with multi-ply binding.

The Gibson Acoustic J-45 Big Leaf Maple Edition comes with LR Baggs's popular VTC acoustic pickup system. This system features a low-profile undersaddle transducer that's more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Unnecessary internal components have been removed, enhancing the coupling between the pickup and the guitar, and improving the sensitivity of the transducer. The result is a robust, lively, and natural acoustic sound. With an unobtrusive and removable volume control mounted just inside the soundhole, the VTC gives your J-45 Big Leaf Maple Edition the amplification you need, with zero compromises in tone or convenience.
Nitrocellulose lacquer finish enhances tone, looks, and feel
The Gibson Acoustic J-45 Big Leaf Maple Edition wears a gorgeous Antique Natural nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a finish favored by many Sweetwater guitarists. Nitro finishes - standard back in the day - are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the instrument to "breathe." The J-45 Big Leaf Maple Edition's nitro finish not only intensifies the grain of its naturally flamed and figured big leaf maple ribs and back - it also enhances the instrument's tonal qualities.
