Once in a while, a boutique manufacturer comes around that absolutely blows its competition swiftly out of the water. That company is ThorpyFX, and the pedal in question is the Fallout Cloud.
The Fallout Cloud, as one might expect, is Thorpy's take on the Big Muff, a circuit whose legacy has lived and thrived in the pedal industry for over 50 years. The Fallout Cloud, as the name implies, is the final word in Muff variants for those who want the best sounding and feeling Muff on the market.
Fortified in an enclosure rugged enough to withstand its namesake, the Fallout Cloud starts with a particularly sweet take on the Big Muff, exact variant unknown. Normally, Muff variants are touted for "more gain, "less gain," more bass," and the like, but the Fallout Cloud lets you have your cake and eat it too.
Crucial to the explosive power of the Fallout Cloud is its fat two-band active EQ which replaces the traditional Tone control of any other Muff. This EQ is simply awesome and sounds good in literally every position, from all combinations of fully clockwise and fully counterclockwise and everything in between.
Lastly, the polished chrome of the enclosure, heavy duty construction and laser engraving are all made by Adrian Thorpe, an actual British Army Major—and a man that knows the real meaning of "military spec."
