Reason Essentials DAWReason Essentials is a streamlined version of Propellerhead's famous Reason and Record software. That's right, Reason and Record have been merged into a single powerful music creation and recording program. You get the killer music creation tools, synths, drum machines, and virtual instruments that made Reason famous, along with the audio recording features of Record. Propellerhead Reason Essentials is a powerhouse of a DAW.Input and output flexibilityA good point of reference for any audio interface is its input and output flexibility. The Propellerhead Balance has the options you need to record your next hit song. You can hook up two 48V phantom-powered XLR mic inputs or two 1/4" guitar/instrument inputs simultaneously in any combination you need. Two sets of of stereo 1/4" inputs let you hook up your keyboard or other outboard gear. On the output side, the Balance interface has two TRS balanced main out to go to your monitors and one headphone output. Each output has their own independent control knob. Virtual InstrumentsReason Essentials has a large and diverse set of virtual instruments. Advanced synths, samplers, effects and drum machines give you an unlimited range of sound production, but there are simple modules as well, which are a great way to start if you're new to sound creation and manipulation. Dr. OctoRex combines the loop-playback power of eight original Dr. Rex modules and adds advanced loop-slice manipulation and playback options. There are even built-in Line 6 guitar and bass PODs for a huge selection of amps, cabs and effects.Recording and Mixing ToolsReason Essentials gives you have access to console-style and line-style mixers, allowing for submixing and grouping, with a clear visual distinction between groups. There are simple and complex versions of reverb and distortion units, as well as creative extras, including a "Combinator" that lets you create advanced layers and splits between instruments. On top of that, Reason Essentials gives you a powerful set of mastering-grade dynamics processors that you can use to pump up your mix. User FriendlyPropellerhead is known for making user friendly products, and Balance is no different. The cool Clip Safe button ensures that you will not lose a take due to distortion ever again. When engaged, Clip Safe sets up a second track that records at a lower volume to avoid any distorted peaks, should they occur. There is also a Meter button on the front of the Propellerhead Balance audio interface, this button brings up a huge recording meter, with built in guitar tuner, that you can easily see from across the room if needed. No hunting and searching for a button in menus, it is right on the actual hardware device. These functions work with Propellerhead software and other pro audio apps and even iTunes.
