Although the Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay's standard neck is very comfortable and playable, it's still a bit thick for some players. In 2009, Ernie Ball Music Man created the StingRay SLO Special to address this issue. With a smaller 1-1/2" nut (rather than the usual 1-5/8"), the SLO Special is ideal for players who crave the look and sound of a StingRay, but prefer a thinner neck. Finished with gunstock oil and a hand-rubbed special wax blend, the back of the 4 SLO Special's neck feels amazing and lets your hand glide along effortlessly.
