The Fender Custom Shop 1951 Heavy Relic Telecaster is an authentic recreation of Fender’s first "working man" guitar, with upgraded features for modern playability. After it's original introduction as the Broadcaster, the Tele would later be known as the Nocaster before finally receiving it's iconic Telecaster name in the summer of 1951. The rest is history. The 2016 Custom Collection 1951 Telecaster celebrates a guitars evolution into a modern classic. A lightweight ash body featuring a distressed Heavy Relic lacquer finish that imparts the look of long years of use and abuse. A pair of hand wound Nocaster pickups with three-way switching, modern wiring and Fender’s Greasebucket™ tone circuit create a modern platform for classic tones. The 1951 Heavy Relic Telecaster is an instrument with years of stories to tell and the scar tissue to prove it.
