Tonal Evaluation
Does anyone remember that gif of Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch while declaring his love for Katie Holmes? This serial's bridge pickup makes me feel like Tom Cruise probably did in that moment. I want to find the nearest tan couch and scream "I LOVE THIS BRIDGE PICKUP!" It was an absolutely brilliant decision to put a Broadcaster pickup in a Thinline Tele, because the Broadcaster's responsive, chiming top-end and snarling mids works beautifully with the airiness and openness of the semi-hollow body. If that sounds like a near-perfect rock guitar sound, you're right! I could chunk away on power chords until the cows cow home on this serial, and I'm sure it will inspire voluminous riffage from anyone who picks it up. The neck pickup is a Texas Special, and it excels at searing, smooth leads, but the lightweight ash body's inherent brightness and openness make it inspiring for rhythm work, too. If the bridge makes me want to rock out, the neck makes me want to play alls sorts of jazzy seventh chords and practice my II-V-I progressions with a little bit of Southern blues flavor sprinkled in. Having two pickups with such different voicings means that you can cover a lot of ground with very few knobs, which I am a huge fan of! This Tele is sure to induce Tom Cruise-esque levels of joy, so make sure you take off your shoes before you start playing, because you wouldn't want to get your couch dirty after the first power chord inevitably makes you jump all over the cushions in childlike glee! A Custom Shop Monster This beautiful Thinline Telecaster is a Frankensteined creation of such terrifying power that you could hardly blame the citizens of Louisville if they decided to surround Wildwood with pitchforks and torches! It combines the semi-hollow construction of seventies Thinline Teles, the double-bound ash body of sixties Custom Teles, and the maple fretboard of fifties Teles. This guitar is a conglomeration of ideas from different decades, and that's why it sounds and looks so timeless! Let's take a closer look and see why it's sure to withstand the test of time.
