The Teletronix Direct Interface (TDI) is a Class A discrete FET circuit, designed to master its original purpose. Originating in the 1960s the humble DI has become a staple from the studio-to-the-stage. In a time where value-adding is commonplace, the TDI resists the urge for a plethora of purposeless features.
The unison of the Lundahl transformer and our proprietary line driver circuit, make for the perfect pairing. The result, is the preservation of input integrity to the highest degree with the addition of subtle sonic nuances, courtesy of the larger mu-metal core transformer.
The high-input headroom of +19dBU accommodates all instrument types and most professional line level sources without a pad. Our affinity for a pad-free design is to safeguard the input level, which affects the dynamic range and ultimately determines how the transformer will respond and produce harmonic distortion.
In situations where long cable runs (≤100m) are required, the “thru” leverages the line driver circuit to circumvent the often inevitable signal degradation. Ground loops are safely removed from the signal path with the inclusion of an automated eliminator circuit, while the low impedance balanced output ensures the optimum integration with microphone preamplifiers of all kinds.
The TDI is housed in a ruggedized aluminium enclosure, intended to sit unassumingly atop of a console, rack or amplifier.
