14" signature maple snare drum, custom-made for Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots
As part of Josh Dun's custom main-stage kit for Twenty One Pilots, this SJC Trench Camo snare drum has to sound perfect while bridging genres. Dun went with 5 plies of classic maple to get the job done—thick enough to project through the mix, thin enough to add maple tone to the ghost notes. The steel hoops are super-thick at 3 mm, for huge rim shots on stage. From there it's all about style, with flat black hardware including a drop throw-off and shield lugs. The finish is Trench Camo, contrasting with the yellow Josh Dun signature SJC badge. Camo or not, this drum does anything but blend in.
