The Jackson Audio FUZZ is a great-sounding fuzz box, delivering the full gamut of gritty textures from vintage-style fuzz to snarling, spitting cacophony. That said, there’s an infinite universe of fuzz tones out there, and the FUZZ’s stock sound merely scratches the surface. That’s where the Modern FUZZ Deluxe comes in. This analog plug-in enables you to swap out the FUZZ’s standard Modern Fuzz module to expand the stompbox’s capabilities. The Modern FUZZ Deluxe picks up where the FUZZ’s standard module leaves off, supplying you with two additional types of clipping. Set the Modern FUZZ Deluxe’s jumper to the Dist position, and you’ll experience smooth clipping with added headroom; set it to the OD position, and the clipping smooths out even more, evoking the sound and feel of a vintage-style overdrive. Note: While the FUZZ’s analog plug-ins are user swappable, installation requires that you disassemble the pedal, remove a pre-installed 18-pin module, and replace it with the new module.
