Acinonyx V Short Scale Bass Guitar - Faded 3-Tone Sunburst

The new Acinonyx 5 wasn’t destined to exist until the PolyVox pickups were developed. These new multi coil pickups offer unrivaled string to string definition and clarity in a passive installation and they’re the perfect solution for how to make a short scale (30.7”) B sting deliver like never before.

As an homage to classic single pickup basses of the past the V1 Acinonyx 5 features a solitary PolyVox “pickup” (technically pickupS - 6 total coils under the cover) placed for maximum versatility. A volume and a wide range tone offer a broad palette of rich passive sounds and the single asymmetrical aperture captures all the organic goodness that a soft maple body with a classic maple/EIR neck can bring. Anything from super dark synth-y sub vibes to clean and clear chime are all available with nary a blurry undefined note to be found.

The fingerboard features a compound radius for optimal even playability up and down the neck and the profile fits the hand like an old broken in glove.

This first batch of basses was made by Carey in our shop in Redlands. Going forward they will be made in a local shop in Temecula that we are very excited to work with. We are hoping to have 2, 10 piece batches available over the next year. The date and time of release will be made known through our email list.

History: Inspired by Juan Alderete, reimagined by Carey Nordstrand, the Acinonyx (genus for Cheetah) is a well thought out, modern reinterpretation of the Goya Panther. Carey sorted out the design flaws of the Goya with the problem solving prowess for which he is known. String pull, switch assignments sorted out, Carey developed this bass with ease of tone selection and overall playability in mind, but the ultimate goal is for the bass to be as fun to play as driving a race car.
