The Doepfer A-149-3 is an advanced random voltage generator inspired by Buchla's "Fluctuating Random Voltages," with significant enhancements for modern modular setups. It features a flexible noise section with three distinct outputs (+3dB, -3dB, and Flat) for a range of spectral characteristics. A fully adjustable noisy triangle oscillator feeds into a sample & hold unit, which includes both manual and automatic clock control, plus a unique correlation function for smoothing random steps. The S&H output is routed to a slew limiter using vactrol-based smoothing, with independent manual and CV control over slew time. Each section can also function independently, making the A-149-3 a highly versatile tool for creating evolving, organic modulation sources.

 

Designed for deep exploration of uncertainty and randomness, the A-149-3 gives users full access to internal signals and routing, allowing for extensive patching possibilities. With normalled connections between sections and external clocking options, it seamlessly integrates into any Eurorack system to enable generative sequencing, chaotic modulation, and evolving textures.
