Flexible Envelopes for Extreme Sound-shaping Fun
While there are many wonderful envelope generators available for Eurorack rigs, the 4ms Pingable Envelope Generator offers a unique set of functions and features that are sure to please any creative synthesist. This module provides you with two envelope generators that sync to either a tap tempo control or incoming pulse clock. Both generators include a time divider/multiplier, which lets you offset them from the main clock by 1/8 to 8 x the clock time, allowing you to set up complex modulation schemes. The Pingable Envelope Generator also provides you with extensive waveshaping controls, allowing you to fully adjust their contours and behavior.









Shift and scale your envelopes
One thing that makes the Pingable Envelope Generator so flexible is the way it lets you adjust the scaling for either envelope independently. The Scale knob itself lets you set the maximum output to up to +10V or to invert the signal and set it down to a maximum of -10V. Hit the Bi-polar switch, and the entire generator will center around 0V with an output range of +/-5V. At the same time, you can bypass the Scale or Bi-polar settings via the +5 Env output, which always produces output ranging from 0 to +5V. Finally, there's the OR jack, which outputs whichever envelope is the hottest, accounting for both Scale and Bi-polar settings.




Fire off gates in a variety of ways
One of the things the synth geeks here at Sweetwater noticed right away about the Pingable Envelope Generator is the variety of gate outputs 4ms gave it. There are two main available gate conditions: End-of-Rise, which goes high when at the tail end of the envelope's rise portion and goes low when it begins its next rise, and End-of-Fall, which is the inverse of End-of-Rise. You can turn either of the End-of-Rise outputs into a Half-Rise envelope (which goes high after 50% of the rise time elapses and goes low 50% of the way through the fall time) via a jumper. What's more, the Skew parameter jack acts as a variable phase gate output, which lets you lock into the timing and triggering of other effects modules.




Cool triggering/cycling options
Dedicated trigger inputs let you set off your envelopes in a few different ways. You can simply hit the cycle button for either channel to self-cycle its envelope to the ping clock. If you pulse the T jack, that will toggle the state of both channels together. Each channel has a QNT jack for manually triggering its envelope start at the next quantized beat as defined by the Ping Div/Mult control, which is perfect for setting up synchronized patterns. Conversely, the Async jack lets you fire off envelopes immediately. A quick pulse will trigger the envelope once, but you can cycle the envelope repeatedly by turning on cycle mode and feeding it a continuous gate signal.
