The Gibson Custom Jimi Hendrix 1969 Flying V is part of a limited run of instruments that recreates Hendrix's original, which he custom-ordered directly from Gibson. Hendrix famously wielded this V during a 12-minute performance of "Red House" at the Isle of Wight festival on August 31st, 1970. The guitarist died three weeks later, making the Flying V one of the last guitars he ever played. Commemorate the legend with this hand-made instrument crafted by the expert luthiers at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee. The mahogany neck and body have a Murphy Lab Aged finish, a process developed by Gibson Master Artisan Tom Murphy. The neck features an authentic ’67 Flying V-shape profile. White ply binding outlines the ebony fretboard, which is inlayed with mother-of-pearl split diamonds. Dual CustomBuckers summon the spirit of the sixties; 500K volume and tone pots provide all the sonic variation you'll need. All of the hardware is plated in aged gold, including the Kluson single line, single ring Tulip tuners, ABR-1 bridge and Maestro Short Vibrola. The Jimi Hendrix 1969 Flying V comes with a certificate of authenticity and a Jimi Hendrix hardshell case. Only 150 of these instruments will be made. The Gibson Custom Shop is the pinnacle of craftmanship, quality and sound excellence. Each instrument celebrates Gibson's legacy through accuracy, authenticity and attention to detail.
