A Freaky Frequency Shifter for Eurorack
Frequency shifters are a rarity in the world of effects. Similar to ring modulators but possessing a personality all their own, frequency shifters can be used to conjure a range of behaviors, from subtle thickening to maddening screams and electronic gurgles. The Doepfer A-126-2 puts a unique spin on this esoteric effect, allowing you to shift the frequency up and down at a selected value, which can be manipulated manually or via an external control voltage source. This 8HP module includes both fine and coarse frequency adjustment controls, which can be switched via an internal jumper. An internal voltage-controlled amplifier responds to an incoming audio signal to create envelope following — a favorite trick of synthesists at Sweetwater for generating dynamic, evolving sonic textures.
