As you play different styles, the blackheart sassafras will change gears from the woody response of walnut to the note separation of maple to the overtones of rosewood. Taylor crafted this beautiful guitar with their revolutionary Expression System 2 behind-the-saddle pickup design that produces profound tone and amplified response in conjunction with the custom-designed preamp. To top it off, this guitar's supremely comfortable Grand Pacific body resonates richly and produces complex harmonics with a clearly defined bass range. V-Class bracing: a sonic revelationWith Taylor’s V-Class bracing, an acoustic guitar top can be both stiff and flexible — for more volume and sustain. V-Class bracing provides stiffness parallel to the strings for more rigidity and hence sustain. Flexibility on either side generates the air movement necessary for robust projection. It’s the best of both worlds. This groundbreaking innovation also improves intonation; not only producing notes that are louder and with longer sustain — but more in tune with each other. V-Class bracing boosts volume evenly across the tonal spectrum, increases sustain, and improves the natural intonation of the instrument by creating a more synergistic response from the soundboard. This fosters a more harmonious relationship between the notes you play, helping chords to ring out in cohesive splendor. A bold, new round-shoulder guitar from TaylorAlthough V-class bracing gave Andy Powers more ways to control a guitar's tonal character, he also knew a new body shape would be required, something with roughly the dimensions of a dreadnought. With V-class bracing, he could eliminate the undesirable sonic characteristics generally ascribed to dreadnoughts. All this led to the round-shoulder dreadnought design Taylor dubbed the Grand Pacific. The Grand Pacific’s overall sound is warm and seasoned, producing notes that overlap more to create a smooth, blended sound. Its wider waist delivers greater low-frequency power, with the problematic low-end woodiness often associated with dreadnoughts being eliminated by the V-class bracing. Gorgeous tonewoods and sublime chameleon-like playabilityThe Grand Pacific body and custom bracing mold this guitar into a gorgeous instrument with a powerful voice — but the tonewoods truly steal the show. Taylor cites blackheart sassafras as the chameleon of tonewoods, with a personality that reflects the player’s unique style and also reflects the differing properties of tonewoods such as walnut, maple, and rosewood. As for the top, the torrefied Sitka spruce offers a rich dynamic range and enchanting vintage tone while resisting swelling and shrinkage.
