NOISE REAP PARADOX

A unique and compact take on the complex oscillator architecture, Paradox from Noise Reap is a dual triangle-core VCO with several routing options for a variety of starting points in your sound design process. One oscillator can act completely independent of the other with individual triangle wave outputs, and oscillator A sports an additional saw wave out and exponential FM input while oscillator B offers a square wave out that can be modulated via PWM. Additionally, they have individual 1V/Oct controls for creating two distinct voices—great for making basses and melodies from one module! However, you also have a linked 1V/Oct input for controlling both oscillators simultaneously.

The true interest in Paradox lies in its modulation capabilities—to hear this, we need to be listening to oscillator B's main out. Oscillator A acts somewhat like the modulator while oscillator B acts as the carrier in a typical complex oscillator setup. Frequency modulate B via A with the independent attenuator to create classic growly and bell-like timbres. For even further chaos, the Self Mod parameter on oscillator A introduces feedback from itself for modifying its harmonic DNA and creating odd tonalities. Syncinging A to B creates classic, vocal lead sounds heard throughout the 80s, and with a CV input, you can modulate when Sync occurs for a non-traditional use-case.

Combining all of Paradox's technique can result in compelling sound palettes that'll keep you twisting and playing.
