The LS 8-oh-8.
When I first sat down to design the LS 8-oh-8's circuit, I wanted a pedal that was like the TubeScreamer TS-808, but with more 'cream', better transparency, and a better tone. I believe I have achieved that with the LS 8-oh-8. If you like the sound of a TS-808, you will LOVE the LS 8-oh-8 because it blows the TubeScreamer away! Although the LS 8-oh-8's circuit started out in 'TubeScreamer land', it is NOT just a TS clone. The input stage has been reworked, the gain stage is different, and the tone stage of the circuit was scraped and redesigned from scratch which allows it to be a very open and effective presence control that can smooth out or add upper harmonics. The OP-Amp (JRC4558) and the output buffer are the only parts of the LS 8-oh-8's circuit that are similar to the original TS-808. Classic overdrive has never sounded better. Santana like sustain, Clapton strat sounds, Gary Moore overdrive or bluesy Stevie Ray tones, this pedal handles them all. The organic overdrive the LS 8-oh-8 produces is a very 'tube amp' like tone. If you have ever heard a GREAT tube amp cranked up loud then you know the tone I am talking about. You hear the fundamental note, and 4, 5 even 6 additional overtones ringing away! With unmatched touch sensitivity, complex harmonics, and transparent guitar tone, the LS 8-oh-8 is the pedal that lives on my pedal board! With the ability to go from light tube sounding grit to heavy overdrive with violin-like sustain, the LS 8-oh-8 can meet your overdrive needs while still retaining your guitar’s original tone.
