Upgraded Edition of KMI's Highly Lauded Live Mixer
If you're performing live with a mixer, it's crucial to choose easy-to-use equipment with a familiar feel, and the Keith McMillen Instruments K-Mix BLUE USB Audio Interface and Performance Mixer is perfect for the job. This combination 8-in/10-out USB audio interface, touch-sensitive control surface, and standalone mixer puts premium sound quality and astonishingly flexible MIDI control in the center of your rig, made even better with user-focused optimizations throughout. Much like the original, the K-Mix BLUE sports a pair of high-quality µPre preamps, enhanced with an improved noise floor and impeccable gain accuracy. Seamless integration with Ableton 11 unlocks a whole world of possibilities with one of today's most popular DAWs. How about processing and effects? From EQ to dynamics and even reverb, it's all there. And since there are no moving parts on board the K-Mix BLUE, you can count on this powerful combo mixer/control surface/interface to travel well and provide a lifetime of flawless performance.
Virtually indestructible yet incredibly playable
With its array of LED-backlit touch strips, buttons, and rotary zones, the K-Mix BLUE hardly resembles a conventional mixer or control surface. That said, these tactile controls not only cover all of the functions you want to have on hand — they're far more responsive than traditional mechanical knobs and faders. For instance, you can jump between fader levels by tapping on different locations on a touch strip, and sliding your finger on the rotary control zones is quicker than twisting a knob. Best of all, since all control values are reflected by underlying LEDs, jumping from function to function is instantaneous. What's more, these controls are virtually indestructible, so you can comfortably toss the K-Mix BLUE in your bag without worrying about faders falling off or knobs caving in the PCB below.
Upgraded preamps with plenty of connectivity options
The connectivity packed into the K-Mix BLUE doesn't just sound great — it's incredibly flexible, too. For starters, all of the audio I/O on the K-Mix BLUE is on balanced 1/4-inch TRS jacks, with the exception of two upgraded µPre combo-jack microphone preamplifiers. These extraordinarily low-noise preamps offer full +48V phantom power and up to 60dB of gain, as well as hi-Z instrument-level direct inputs. On the digital side, 24-bit AKM converters capable of up to 96kHz sample rates ensure that your sound remains pristine throughout processing, recording, or computer playback. What really caught the attention of performing artists at Sweetwater is that the K-Mix BLUE's full 8-in/10-out I/O is available without hooking it up to a computer, so you can leave your laptop at home and still take advantage of its extensive routing and processing options.
DSP delivers onboard tone shaping power
Whether you're using it along with your DAW or in standalone mixer mode, the DSP processing onboard Keith McMillen Instruments' K-Mix BLUE conjures a lot of extra mileage out of your sound sources. For instance, each channel includes a 3-band semi-parametric EQ with up to 18dB of boost or cut per band. Fully adjustable compressor/limiters allow you to smooth out or punch up your sounds, and you can gate out noise if you need to. On top of that, there's a rich master reverb effect on board, with dedicated sends for each channel. For added versatility on stage and in the studio, the K-Mix BLUE also includes four surround-sound processing modes which turn each of the rotary zones into surround panners.
