This 4-piece kit’s shells are made from gorgeous walnut, a favorite wood among drummers here at Sweetwater for its naturally EQ’ed tone and warm, full low end. Each walnut shell also features a beautiful, stage-ready Roasted Japanese Chestnut exterior ply.




Design meets vibration
Vibration is at the heart of all drum design. The bearing edge on TAMA’s STAR kit has been designed to maximize the point of contact between the drumhead and the shell. With a rounder peak than typical bearing edges, each head has greater contact with the shell, so the vibration travels more efficiently, resulting in better tone and overall projection.




Premium die-cast zinc hoops provide consistent tuning and superior tone
The hoops on your drum affect far more than tuning stability — they also affect tone. That’s why TAMA uses premium die-cast zinc hoops for their STAR Walnut toms. These die-cast hoops are made from a high-density injection molding process, rather than a conventionally stamped triple-flanged hoop method. The result is a denser, extremely consistent hoop that provides uniform bolt contact and gives your STAR shell pack a crisper attack with added high-end resonance.




Super Resonant Mounting System
The resonance of your drums depends heavily on how they are mounted. To maximize the resonance of each drum, TAMA developed the Super Resonant Mounting System (SRMS). The SRMS creates three points of contact with the drum, two on the batter hoop and one on the resonant hoop. The two contact points on the batter hoop support the weight of the drum vertically while the third supports the horizontal weight. Taken together, these points of support reduce the strain and stress on the shell and hoop. The result is an increase in natural resonance that also enhances tone and projection. TAMA also utilizes rubber at each contact point between the shell and the mounting system, thus reducing vibration transfer and increasing resonance — a feature drummers at Sweetwater really appreciate.
