The Fender Custom Shop Total Tone ’65 Strat is a legend perfected.
Hand crafted to the micro-measured specifications of a vintage ‘65
Stratocaster, and built with the same retooled equipment as the
original. The Total Tone ’65 Strat has an alder body finished with a
thin layer of Sherwood metallic nitrocellulose lacquer for optimum
resonance. The quartersawn maple neck with the classic 65 “C” shaped
contour is a joy in the hand, and the thin, round laminated rosewood
fretboard with rolled edges, 21 tall, jumbo 6105 frets and a 9.5”
fretboard radius plays like a dream and lets you bend any note with
clarity.


There are two very distinct features that make the Total Tone series
of guitars unique. First, the magnificent sound of this instrument
comes through a trio of Fender Lineage Black Pickups custom designed,
voiced, and built for the Total Tone line of guitars. The middle pickup
is reverse wound, reverse polarity to minimize noise, and all three
feature staggered Alnico V magnets wound with heavy, 42 gauge enameled
wire and cloth leads. 6.0k Ohm neck and middle pickups and a 6.8k Ohm
bridge pickup work together to create a mellow and sophisticated
vintage tone. These lower output pickups have a flatter EQ response,
resulting in a balanced tone with fantastic sparkle, chime, detail and
clarity.


Second, Fender’s attention to detail can be seen in the most
accurate vintage-spec. hardware to date. In 2013 Fender redesigned and
retooled for the American Vintage series. These Total Tone Strats are
currently the only Custom Shop guitars to feature the newly designed
hardware. The new American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo is the original
design, with bent steel saddles to preserve that distinctive Strat
sound. A modern 5-way selector switch gives you easy access to the full
range of classic Strat tones, while the American Vintage tuners work
perfectly with the aged, 3-ply mint pickguard and the tastefully aged
finish for a look that suggests decades of play as your favorite
