Not many necks play faster than the King V KVX-MG7’s graphite-reinforced maple neck with laurel fingerboard. The 12- to 16-inch compound radius fingerboard makes chords easier to form close to the nut and is flatter up the neck for faster lead lines. It also makes impossibly wide bends possible without fretting out. In other words, it’s effortless to switch between rhythm and lead playing on the King V KVX-MG7. Jackson’s King V KVX-MG7’s active EMG humbuckers spit out enough heat to maximize your amp’s gain, sustain, and harmonic content. At the bridge position, you get an EMG 81 ceramic pickup, which offers blistering output and still sings with a balanced tone. In the neck position, you’ll find an EMG 85 alnico humbucker, which is voiced a little fatter and sweeter than the 81 and makes a more well-rounded option for rhythms. Master volume and tone controls give you total control over all three pickup positions.
