Fender Humboldt Hot Rod

After the overwhelming success of the Humboldt Hot Rod, we went back
to the drawing board with Fender to make the Humboldt even hotter. The
Humboldt now features a 12” Eminence Hot Rod Hempster speaker, a
customized version of the Cannabis Rex speaker used in previous editions
of the HHR. The Hempster speaker is voiced specifically for this amp
and has a unique response—providing the smoky tone, tight low end and
refined upper midrange that it has been famous for while ensuring a
wider frequency range that lets the speaker open up a bit more. A trio
of 12AX7 preamp tubes and a pair of EL84 power tubes deliver classic
Fender clean tones while the Fat switch boosts the preamp gain for a
bit of naturally overdriven distortion. The classic Fender chime is even
sweeter than before with no harsh edges and, using an efficient
speaker, a bit more volume as well.


In addition to being the first and only amp using the Hot Rod Hempster
speaker, the Humboldt Hot Rod sports several aesthetic firsts for a
Fender amp: though it might be mistaken for classic black tolex, the HHR
is actually covered in black Nubtex, a nod to classic British amps from
the 60s and 70s; the grille cloth is inspired by vintage salt &
pepper grille cloth of the same era; and last but not least—for the
first time, the Humboldt Hot Rod sports a custom red rear badge with
matching red front logo badge, signifying the Humboldt Hot Rod as an
official entry into the Fender product line.


The Fender Humboldt Hot Rod is a workhorse amplifier with a rich tone
