1972 was a magical year for the Telecaster—the year the twangy
Telecaster was reincarnated as a rock legend by adding a beefy humbucker
into the neck position. The Fender Custom Shop ’72 Closet Classic
Telecaster is a customized reproduction of this historic Tele—giving
you the thick, creamy sound of the original ’72 Custom Tele with some
modern appointments. The hand selected ash body is lightweight,
resonant , and features a comfortable belly-cut contour. The ’69
U-shaped neck has the standard Fender 25.5” scale length with a 9.5”
fretboard radius ; this 3 bolt neck plays like a dream and lets you
bend any note with clarity and sustain. A Fender Wide-Range Humbucker
in the neck position is voiced a little hotter than the original and
simply screams. The Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele single coil in the
bridge provides all the Tele snap-and-twang you could ever need—and the
3-way switch on the upper bout lets you select between your pickup
configurations. Separate tone and volume controls for each pickup
ensure that you can dial in the exact tone you need from your Tele, and
the stunning Dakota Red finish ensures that you’ll stand out from the
pack.
