“Ah- Ancient Chinese secret…” is what hear from Scruffie. Always
trust a drug addict is what I hear from him too and damn if he doesn’t
prove himself right. Beyond the Corgan conscience Scruffie has delivered
us a box designed somewhere in the Eastern Romanian wilderness where
H.P. Blavastsky wrote the epic and unobtainable tome ‘The Sound of the
Silence’ and within this domain of higher awareness Scruf has once again
delivered the sound lots of others have aimed for and missed. Let me
tell you what he said.


“Well the circuit is very much an EHX Op-Amp Big Muff, some values
have been tweaked and the 6 x diodes have been replaced with 2 x LEDs
for similar fV (3 x 1N4148 = 1.8V, LED = 1.8-2.1fV) to cut circuit size
but otherwise it remains the same basic circuit. The Gain/Sustain knob
has been fixed high on the Op-Amp Big Muff and now an Op-Amp PreGain
stage drives it to push the entire circuit in cutting fuzz/distortion.


The Standard Big Muff tone control has also been replaced with the
more versatile ‘James’ or Passive Baxandall tone stack to get a wider
range of control from the circuit and the output is J-FET Buffered to
prevent any loading from this tone stack.


Very succinct for a man of many words which often confuse me anyways.
