The Spark-O-Matic’s Well-Built Body
The Jazzmaster was introduced in 1958, three months after Sputnik 1 headed for orbit, starting the space race. The Spark-O-Matic’s offset body fits right in that era. But under the hood, there is a major modern update—the “wings” are chambered ash. You’ll hear more resonance, and enjoy the weight-saving results, too. The guitar’s core is mahogany—rare for a Fender. It provides a nice midrange and a boost of sustain.
Versatile Electronics
The Spark-O-Matic sports 3 Seymour Duncan mini-humbuckers. Each coil in SM-3B bridge pickup is overwound, producing a natural openness with grit. The neck and middle position SM-1N pickups provide the high-end of a single-coil while retaining the snarl of a humbucker. It’s a combination we think you’ll like. The 5-way selector makes the Spark-O-Matic even more versatile.
