The PRS Silver Sky gets a maple fingerboard
This version of the Silver Sky adds a maple fingerboard to the Mayer signature guitar, something many Musician’s Friend customers have asked for. Maple tends to lend a little more “snap” to the tonal palette and, along with the classically comfortable neck profile, adds a little ‘50s vintage vibe to the early ’60s guitars that were the inspiration for this signature instrument.
Mayer pickups give the Silver Sky unique tone
Both PRS and Mayer hold that the pickups are a major part of the design, and these signature single-coils are full and warm with a smooth high-end that’s never strays into “ice-pick” territory.
Innovations from the PRS design team
The tremolo bridge and tuners carry several PRS-developed designs, like a locking version of the traditional closed-back tuner and Gen III knife-edge screws on the steel plate vibrato. We’ve found that these updates add a lot to your tuning stability while retaining that quintessential vintage feel.
