Modal Electronics' 002R 12-voice polysynth is an analog/digital
hybrid rackmountable synth module that bridges the gap between analog
sound and digital flexibility. Providing you twelve discrete voices of
polyphony with the option of full multi-timbrality, you can play split
keyboard parts or build a densely layered soundscape. The 002R features
two NCOs and an LFO for each voice along with two sub-oscillators with
individually variable waveforms that essentially give you four
oscillators per voice. Add to those a global LFO, a range of modulation
options, and easy navigation and the Modal Electronic 002R synthesizer
becomes the clear choice for an electronic musician who wants to evolve
with the music-making landscape.

The 002R's
analog/digital hybrid nature provides 12 discrete voices of polyphony
with full multi-timbrality. Each voice has two NCOs (Numerically
Controlled Oscillators) that provide super-high resolution, stability,
and vast amounts of waveforms to choose from. Add to the NCOs two
sub-oscillators that you can switch from square wave to match the
waveform of the main NCO, essentially giving you four oscillators per
voice - the potential soundscapes you can build are limitless. A
distinct ladder filter shifts from 24dB/octave four-pole transistor to a
6dB/octave one-pole filter and everything in between, producing amazing
effects you can't get from just any synth. The voices also have their
own individual LFO as well as a global LFO and huge range of
modulations, giving you more sound to create with.

A synthesizer with the power of the Cloud

As you look
over the 002R's screen, you'll notice an icon that gives you access to
the new cloud system via the Ethernet port. This open-platform Cloud
allows completely internet-based updates for profile settings, patches,
sequences, and more - no more time-intensive MIDI SysEx dumps! Ethernet
connectivity also allows you to edit and build sounds on your computer
and move them to the 002R's sound bank. Over the years here at
Sweetwater, we've seen a lot of combinations of analog audio components
with digital programming capabilities, and the 002RR is one that truly
leverages the best of both worlds.

Powerful and flexible sequencing capabilities

The
002R features sequencing options that give you tons of onboard
flexibility for sequencing. The built-in 12-track, 12-row, 32-step
sequencer allows you to create amazingly complex sequences. The
multi-mode arpeggiator includes a 'hold' mode, letting you use the
arpeggiator and sequencer together to create sequences on-the-fly and
save them for later recall and editing. The Animator function gives you
the ability to sequence any parameter including filter transitions, wave
forms, and modulation. Once you've created a patch or sequence that you
love, simply save it to a slot in your quick recall bank. You can use
the bank to store often used patches, or use it to get rid of your
setlist by saving each song in its own slot for quick and easy
transitions during the gig.

Flexible input and output options

The 002R features
balanced XLR and unbalanced TRS outputs for direct input into your amp,
mixer, or audio interface. A D-sub connection provides individual
outputs for each of the synth's 12 voices, giving you flexibility for
advanced routing options and outboard processing. You also get two audio
inputs for processing external audio through the 002R's onboard filter
section, expanding your sonic possibilities. And the two expression
pedal inputs have one-button parameter assignments, adding even more
your performance capabilities.
