Alexander Pedals Chesapeake Stereo Chorus Vibrato
If Alexander is known for one thing, it’s everything. The company takes the concept of an effect type and pushes it to its limits, while maintaining an exceptional size-to-feature ratio. This time, Alexander and company have set their sights on the Chorus and Vibrato realms. The result is the Chesapeake. The Chesapeake combines three chorus types that have been used to great effect by guitarists since the whole shebang was invented. Three different modes govern the Chesapeake, with a dedicated mix control that pushes each type into pitch vibrato when cranked all the way, and a color knob that does different things depending on what mode is selected. Ensemble mode calls back to the time when huge pedals ruled the scene and Boss had extracted the chorus circuit from the Jazz Chorus line of amplifiers and plunked it into a huge brown and silver box that fetches huge money on the used market. It’s a classic single-voiced chorus, albeit a rich and buttery one that sounds great. In this mode, the color knob controls the tone of the affected signal. Dimension mode adds a second chorus voice that sweeps in reverse for some cancellations at some points in the sweep, but the result is an undeniably fat tone that sounds great when stacked with literally anything else. Players might recognize the name from the Boss Dimension C and D pedals from the ‘80s. The color knob controls the overall brightness here. The third mode—Rotary—mixes in the chorus with a classic sine-wave trem to simulate that of a Leslie cabinet. In this mode, the color knob controls the balance between the vibrato and tremolo, which acts as a virtual rotor control. A new tap switch with subdivisions graces the Chesapeake, and holding down the switch accesses any of three subdivisions: half, quarter and eighth notes. Similarly, holding down the tap switch accesses the level control, which compensates for any perceived volume loss. An external tap jack lets you place the pedal anywhere on your board while still retaining tap functionality, and the pedal can run in stereo with a TRS Y-cable. Alexander Pedals Chesapeake Stereo Chorus Vibrato features: Three distinct chorus modes with a mode-dependent color knob Mix control pushes any setting into pitch vibrato Tap tempo with subdivisions Hand-made in USA Standard 9v center-negative power operation (adapter not included) www.music-blvd.com ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
