Mr. Black has changed the game. Again. Using the foundation of the widely-regarded Eterna reverb, the latest and final word on shimmer reverb is here. The algorithm of the original has been overhauled to deliver a feature set worthy of the color gold—from impossibly long decays to astonishing shimmer swells. If you've been on the market for a shimmering reverb but haven't been able to make a decision, congratulations. This is the end of your journey.
The decay time of the original has been vastly expanded upon. The original Eterna's decay stands at 40+ seconds. For those players that require a little more, the Eterna Gold Modified has widened that decay time to over a full minute of opulent reverb. The reverb engine itself has also been thoroughly tweaked to change the amount of reflections created after picking, creating a fuller, richer base sound for the decay to feast upon. As the decay knob is turned counter-clockwise, the Eterna Gold Modified starts to shimmer-swell, and when the decay knob is dimed, swelling is also at maximum. Much like the original, a precise amount of shimmer can be mixed in with the shimmer knob, from lush bottomless verb to a massive sacred chorale. The pedal is wired for true-bypass switching and is set up for standard 9vDC operation.

The Eterna Gold-Modified expands both of these methods and combines them to create its signature breath-taking, multi-vocal shimmering-reverb tone. A grand total of four octaves, coupled with a full wet/dry mix control, all-new modulation, early reflections, forward reverb voicing, and over 60 seconds of lush decay, offer all new textures and tones not easily achieved in a compact format.

The Mr. Black Eterna Shimmering Reverberator generates its renowned shimmer in a different manner. Rather than taking the output of the reverb generator and creating a feedback loop, the Eterna routes the input signal into two sequential octave shifts and then allows the user to blend as much of these octaves into the reverb as desired. Basic Shimmer-reverb
There are many effects pedals and processors available today capable of producing the legendary “shimmer-reverb” sound, including our prized Eterna Shimmering Reverberator. Most shimmer-reverb is created by routing the output of the reverb generator through a pitch-shifter (frequently one octave, although fifths and two or more octaves have been used) and subsequently directing this pitch-shifted signal back into the reverb generator, creating a feedback loop which generates the shimmer-reverb effect many players strive to achieve.
