Ride the Lightning
Attention, rare guitar lovers! Wildwood has managed to procure an incredible prototype from our friends at Suhr! John Suhr and his team of mad geniuses have put this guitar's finish through something called the Lichtenberg Process. That basically means that they coated the body in an electrically-conductive solution, attached two probes to the wood, and then zapped the it with thousands of volts of electricity. Then, the electricity burned beautiful fractal patterns that look like lightning bolts into the top of the guitar! Obviously, this is the most rock and roll method of applying finish, but it also elevates this guitar into a piece of art. The Lichtenberg Process is quite random--after all, who can predict what electricity will do?--yet they have managed to find the beauty in the chaos and package it into a jaw-dropping, heart-stopping final product. Suhr has literally managed to catch lightning in a bottle with this prototype, and we are proud to showcase the fruits of their labor for our exceptional customers. Tonal Evaluation Oh, and did we mention that it sounds amazing, too? This guitar is made out of Khaya, which has the depth, warmth, and quick response time of mahogany but with more bite to the midrange and a bell-like presence in the high end. The neck pickup does Hendrix sounds all day long, the middle pickup has just the right amount of snap and spank for just about any rhythm part,, and the bridge humbucker is filled to the brim with beefy, punchy rock tones. It also plays like a dream! This guitar looks like a piece of art, but it sounds good enough to impress even the pickiest guitar aficionado.
