PRS Violin guitars are rooted in Paul Reed Smith’s belief that the guitar is the violin of our time. Starting with a limited run of Violin guitars from 2009-2010 that featured European maple tops (thought to be from the same area where Stradivari sourced his maple) and Pernambuco necks (a rare wood historically used to make violin bows), PRS is proud to continue the tradition with the Private Stock Violin II. Violin II instruments also take their lead from violins and violas, with their standard appointments including Private Stock’s new “Strad” purfling on the neck and headstock, as well as curly maple necks paired with an ebony fretboard and a “Violin” finish color that is a beautiful glowing amber/gold reminiscent of old violins.
Other features for this instrument include a Private Stock maple top, lightweight mahogany back, 22 fret, 25” scale length Pattern neck, gold mother of pearl “Violin” bird inlays and PS headstock eagle, maple, gold and white mother of pearl “Strad” fretboard and headstock purfling, high gloss nitro finish, volume and push/pull tone control with a 3-way toggle pickup selector, PRS locking tuners and a paisley hardshell case.
