Players running standard rigs will find a lot to like about the Precision Drive: A non-standard control set helps you sculpt your tone in new and exciting ways. A standard tone knob is replaced with a Bright control, which helps you add clarity back into the distorted signal, and a unique Attack knob helps tailor the drive tone to your rig’s character. A built-in noise gate keeps the action quiet and tighter as you increase it.
However, if you like your tone a little higher-gain, the Precision Drive hits the spot like not much else. The noise gate becomes much more indispensable, and increases tightness as you turn it up. The Precision Drive is also engineered to work flawlessly with both downtuned and extra-string guitars, as well as any modeling rig you happen to be running.
One gripe many players have with modern, higher-gain pedals is with string separation and note definition. Fear not, high-gainers: The Precision Drive addresses this head-on and sounds clear and punchy with chords and finger-tapping alike.
