Purple Audio's Action packs your rack with classic FET compressor
mojo. This 500 Series module gives you five ratios, from a subtle 4:1 to
a brickwall 20:1 and beyond: you even get the infamous all-buttons-in
"nuke" mode. Naturally, you get control over attack and release times,
as well as LED Gain Reduction and I/O metering. True Relay Bypass and
Stereo Linking capabilities complete the package. Action makes your
kicks and snares pop; it makes a synth come to life. You'll find new

sounds wonderful on just about everything. When you want subtle
compression, use the 4:1 ratio; for more robust gain attenuation, go for
8:1 or 12:1. Dial up 20:1, and you've entered limiter territory. For
the ultimate brickwall action, you want "nuke" mode - infinity:1.
Action's Attack and Release controls cover a broad range, and when you
explore their extremes, you can cause distortion - which may be just
what you're looking for on a particular track.
