Need a 500 Series mic pre with big-time versatility? Sweetwater
has an excellent suggestion: the Purple Audio Biz. This unique
three-amplifier, discrete preamp sports a Class AB opamp that can muster
27dB of gain, plus a gain pot that lets you get it just right. Hit the
"Dual" switch, and your gain splits between two Class A opamps, giving
you up to 75dBu of clean gain - ideal for your ribbon mics. If you want
tasty coloration, you can dial up quite a palette using different Gain,
Level, and Dual settings. There's even a great-sounding front-panel DI
on the Purple Audio Biz.
