The latest addition to the highly acclaimed Custom Shop Artisan Series, the Custom Shop Limited Edition Artisan Tele Caballo Tono Ligero Koa is a tastefully elegant instrument with sophisticated style and deep rich tone. Artistically crafted from exotic tonewoods selected for their sound and visual appeal, this lightweight guitar is a marvelously refined take on Fender’s classic workhorse instrument. The Artisan Tele Caballo Tono Ligero Koa is all about tone—its right there in the name. A hand-wound Custom Shop ’51 Nocaster pickup in the bridge position accurately reproduces the classic twang and shimmer of a Tele, with tight low end, clear, balanced midrange and even string response. In the neck position, a TV Jones Classic offers authentic growl and grind, granting this guitar a little extra firepower under the hood, making it a versatile tonal thoroughbred. The reversed control plate makes it easier to quickly access the volume and tone controls for expressive steel-inspired swells, while the electronics have been selected to bring out the pure tone of the pickups. The Custom Shop’s Research Special Division carefully designed the bridge, creating a lower side profile for increased playing comfort and redesigning the brass saddles for enhanced intonation. With its 1963 “C”-shaped profile and modern 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard, the 21-fret one-piece AAA birdseye maple neck is perfect for all playing styles, offering speed and comfort along the entire length. The lacquer-finished Thinline body is crafted from Tasmanian Blackwood, a tone wood known for its impressively figured grain and warm, rich tone, similar to rosewood. This stunning body is capped with a bound AAA koa top, adding a note of crispness and definition to the guitar’s sonorous voice. Other aesthetic appointments include chrome hardware, Sperzel die-cast tuning machines with white pearloid buttons, one-ply gold anodized pickguard and knurled dome control knobs.
