Fender Custom Shop 1964 Jazz Bass - Pewter

A Pewter Powerhouse
This 1964 reissue Jazz Bass is one of the sharpest-looking thud staffs I've seen in my tenure at Wildwood! The pewter finish is elegant, simple, and dignified, and the matching headstock only enhances its drool-worthiness. Playing fast runs on the '60s-style U-shaped neck is a breeze thanks to the narrow 1.5" nut width and the vintage-accurate 7.25" radius, but it's still thick enough to give you something to hang on to when you're laying down a groove in the pocket. Sonically, this bass is a world-beater thanks to its incredibly resonant alder body and its set of Jaco Pastorius single-coil pickups. It has everything I want in a Jazz Bass: brash, raunchy lows, a dense, broad midrange, and touch-sensitive highs. Because of the AAA rosewood fingerboard, the attack on this bad boy is a bit rounder than some Jazz Basses, but it can still clank and growl with the best of them when you dig in. The bridge pickup sound fatter than some neck pickups, but it still has that characteristic Jaco bite, which is a really cool sound on a fretted bass! The neck pickup has vintage-style depth and warmth to go with modern clarity and articulation. Both pickups are nice separately, but I liked the full, punchy sounds I got with both of them on 10 the best. This would make a great bass for anyone looking for a full-sounding Jazz Bass with an awesome neck!
