The treble frequencies are quite responsive—bell-like and clear when played softly and full of Mississippi Delta meanness when played hard—and this touch-sensitivity works wonderfully with this flattop’s lower headroom. This J-45 starts to sound compressed in a very musical way at lower volumes, which gives it an even, clear voice that recording engineers will love for any sort of big, open strumming.
