SolidgoldFX returns to outer space with its new Apollo II phaser. This updated version of the four-stage Apollo contains an overhauled engine and an added overall richness that sets it apart from others in its class.
Firstly, the tap tempo section has been moved to a proprietary SolidgoldFX processor for ultra-precision tapping. This tap system works with the subdivision switch for super fine tuning of syrupy slow phasing or alien spacecraft pulses.
The core of the Apollo II is an 11-position LFO waveform selector, and these waves range from the ordinary (sine, saw) to the otherworldly (stepped LFOs). It caps this selection off with two awesome modes: Manual (user can manually adjust the position of the phase) and Randomizer (an option offered on little, if any, other phasers).
Speaking of Manual mode, users can plug in an expression pedal to control the position of the phase for an awesome phase-wah sound unlike nothing else out there. In any other mode, the expression pedal controls the speed of the phaser for spacy swells—perfect for ambient music.
Regen, Speed and Depth controls round out this ultra-versatile pedal. Regen controls the feedback—a control every truly great phase box should have. Crank both the Regen and Depth controls for an ultra-chewy tone that kicks you in the chest.
Best of all, SolidgoldFX dramatically enhanced the headroom so the Apollo II eats dirt pedals as if they were freeze-dried ice cream. Even the most out-of-control distortion box bends to the will of the Apollo II.
