The SolidGoldFX Sasori fuzz is a faithful recreation of a stellar forgotten fuzz box—the Shin-Ei FY2 Companion Fuzz. However, with all the great tone that box offered, it was not without its detractions. The pedal suffered from a lack of volume, and its awkward shape plagued pedalboard users everywhere.
Thankfully, these issues have been resolved and then some, as the Sasori sounds great, has plenty of volume on tap and can be integrated into any pedalboard setup on account of its diminutive footprint.
The Sasori is a spitty, biting fuzz that sounds like your amp is being ripped apart. It’s a bold, brawny tone that demands to be heard; you’ll never lose track of this fuzz in any mix. The Sasori holds a very unique sound, and just like the Companion that preceded it, it adds just the right amount of scream to any solo played through it.
All of SolidGold’s products are quality-built and the Sasori is no exception. The pedal exudes just as much reliability as the old Shin-Ei wedge enclosures. And because there’s a power jack, it already has the functional advantage. Because it eclipses unity volume, it has the sonic advantage as well.
