With the Pat Pend Strat Series pickup sets, Bare Knuckle delivers the tonal response of coveted strat pickups from a specific era. The ’63 Veneer Board set is based on the Stratocasters from ’63 and ’64 that started using a thinner rosewood veneer fingerboard. The coils from this era are slightly hotter with slightly smaller diameter Alnico V magnets. The hotter wind helps add body and low end to these Strats, which tended to be brighter than those with a slab board. The coils are scatter-wound with heavy Formvar wire for wide frequency response and exceptional pick dynamics. The result is a deep low-end and a solid high-end, with a full, piano-like ring to each note.
