You get straightforward microphone preamplification in the Model 983M, plus a hi-Z input, high and lowpass filters with selectable frequencies, mute, polarity reverse, and a 20dB pad. Even your low-output ribbon mics will love this preamp, with over 72dB of gain on tap. And with separate Level and Tube-Drive controls, the LaChapell Audio Model 983M can take your signals from crystal clean to beautifully warm and saturated.

What makes True48 such a game-changer? The fact is, many phantom power supplies struggle to eke out consistent voltage, particularly with modern condenser mics — it's not all that uncommon to see actual supplied voltages below 35 volts.
