How do you improve on something that is, by many accounts, perfect?
One person has the answer: Jonathan at Oddfellow FX. If you’ve ever heard an original Caveman, you’d be quick to call it one of the greatest overdrive pedals in existence. And you wouldn’t be wrong, or alone. Many players deemed their searches over when the Caveman landed on their boards.
The Caveman Drive V2 boasts a retooled circuit for more clarity and better tone. Many players wished that the Boost side could be independently engaged; Jonathan took care of that as well. The Boost side of the Caveman V2 is no longer a switchable component swap, rather it is Oddfellow’s equally-awesome Napoleon Boost. The new Caveman allows independent operation of the boost at long last, so players can rest easy.
Perhaps the coolest upgrade is the Pre/Post toggle, which switches the order of the drive and boost circuits. Are you the type to overdrive a signal, then kick on a boost for a sparkling solo tone? Boom: Post. Are you the type that likes to run a hot boost into the front end of a drive for the most saturated, gooey drive tone around? Boom: Pre. And just like the original Caveman, no setting is a hair out of place, everything sounds like a million bucks.
The Caveman V2, contains a buffer circuit, of extremely high quality that does nothing to your signal but help it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how the buffer helps compensate for long cables in your rig. The unit also accepts a standard Boss-style 9v center-negative power adapter.
