MXL 880 Vocal Condenser Microphone

32mm pressure gradient condenser microphone ideal for vocals.

The MXL 880 has a 32mm capsule and a fixed cardioid pickup pattern. Condenser microphones are very sensitive, readily revealing very subtle sonic details. They also tend to pick up sounds outside the pattern more than some designs, which can lead to powerful feedback if you are not careful. MXL strongly advises experimentation with placement and isolation requirements with the gain initially set low to avoid equipment (and hearing) damage. Shockmount The MXL 880 includes a high-isolation shockmount. When attatching it to the 880, simply shift the elastic bands to center the microphone in the assembly. Be sure that the wire clamp does not rest on the chassis of the mount, as this impairs mechanical isolation. Slide the shockmount up the body of the microphone and stop just below the grill for the most secure hold. Requires phantom power at 48 volts and an XLR cable to connect to your mixer or preamp (not included).
