The Rubie Drive overdrive/distortion pedal is not a re-write of a famous "screamer" pedal. It is a new design which incorporates the concept of cascading gain stages. The Rubie Drive is much akin to designs found in modern day high-gain amplifiers. This foundation allowed the Audio Monk to achieve the cranked 100 watt tone, at tolerable levels and bring crunch to any vintage amp. You'll notice five knobs on the Rubie Drive. The bass, middle and treble knobs are set to your taste, it's not brain surgery. However, here's the kicker.... The Pre and Master knobs allow you to assign where your distortion is generated from. With the pre cranked and master set to match dry output level, you get op-amp-diode generated distortion. With the master cranked and preset to match dry output level, you get J-Fet distortion. The vin/mod toggle functions as follows: In "vin" mode you are able to switch off distortion generating diodes within the op-amp stage. The "mod" mode allows you to activate those diodes to bring added harmonics and gain.
