The Proto Run Limited Edition back and sides are crafted from solid ovangkol. This is not a new tonewood for Taylor. Ovangkol delivers much the same tone that has made Indian rosewood so popular. It effortlessly adds depth to your low frequencies and sparkle to your high end that aids in note definition. But you'll notice a slightly more pronounced midrange that gives each of your notes a fuller body. Expression System 2 electronics
Traditionally, acoustic-electric guitars have employed piezo transducers under their bridge saddles. But Taylor's Expression System 2 is different. It uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup features three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors that respond organically to the instrument's acoustic energy as it's transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor's custom-designed, studio-grade preamp, the result is a natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness to your pick or finger attack.
