Black Arts Toneworks Quantum Mystic
Developed as a joint effort between Black Arts Toneworks and Mike Scheidt of the band YOB, from right here in Portland, Oregon. One of Mike's go-to pedals was an old grey two-knob guy from decades past, and it's all over YOB records. However, its two-knob design doesn't lend itself to a whole lot of flexibility, and its status as the crux of such a distinct guitar tone means that a more versatile model is needed.
Enter: The Quantum Mystic. The old grey distortion has been significantly upgraded with more modern parts, road-ready construction and most importantly, an active three-band equalizer. No longer held back by a single tone knob, the Quantum Mystic delivers all the classic, thick tone of the original old grey mare with some welcome additions that make the Quantum Mystic adaptable to myriad more genres than the crushing doom of YOB.
The equalizer is a Baxandall type which means the three bands are very interactive and even with one or more bands scooped, the sound is still very musical. The classic grey distortion is an oft-utilized sound, and its time is now. This is the upgrade you've been waiting for. The Quantum Mystic is true bypass, runs on a standard "Boss" style plug, 2.1mm center negative and is stout enough to withstand the rigors of a YOB tour.
