Mad Professor established itself as a premier player in the “D-Style” amp-in-a-box pedal world with the Simble, a wonderfully articulate dirt box that captured the ears of many. Then, it released the companion Predriver, which is designed as a all-in-one preamp, compressor and harmonic enhancer. Pairing both of these circuits is downright magical, and so is born the Twimble.
The Twimble contains both circuits in one. The Predriver sits first and gives you two modes of operation—Hot and Cool—both of which convey different frequency ranges, which then slam into the front of the Simble, creating harmonic overload.
The Simble circuit contains an Accent control ahead of the overdrive, which fine-tunes the frequency range and shapes the Predriver circuits. A wonderfully touch-sensitive drive section plays much like real D-Style amp, giving you a transparent overdrive whose dynamics are second to none.
Of course, the magic occurs with both circuits used in tandem, pushing the Simble into sweet breakup much like the amp it’s based upon. With both sides on, the Predriver’s switch and the Accent control are highly interactive, conjuring up a humble D-Style amp in a variety of flavors.
